EDUCATION ALLIANCE ORGANIZES PRINCIPAL FOR THE DAY EVENT WITH LOCAL BUSINESS LEADERS
 
Educating local business leaders about public education
 
(November 2011-Reno, NV)- The Education Alliance of Washoe County, in partnership with the Washoe County School District (WCSD), is planning to educate local business leaders with a job-shadowing event at local elementary, middle, and high schools. The business leaders will job-shadow the school principals on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
 
Thirty-five businesses and their leaders will participate:

Desert Heights ES, Maxwell ES, Verdi ES, Depoali MS, Washoe Inspire Academy, McQueen HS, Risley ES, Dilworth MS, Reno HS, Mathews ES, Sierra Vista ES, Lemmon Valley ES, Spanish Springs ES, TMCC HS, Peavine ES, Palmer ES, Reed HS, North Valleys HS, Westergard ES, Caughlin Ranch ES, Drake ES, Shaw MS, Stead ES, Billinghurst MS, Warner ES, Donner Springs ES, Lenz ES, Swope MS, Vaughn MS, Clayton MS, O'Brien MS, Elmcrest ES, Incline HS, Damonte Ranch HS, and Anderson ES.
 
"The response from our business and community leaders continues to fuel this collaborative effort" stated Denise Hedrick, Executive Director of the Education Alliance of Washoe County. "Participants, administrators, business and community leaders leave the day with new insights, understanding and strengthened relationships."
 
Business leaders and principals will start the day off at the school. The business leaders will shadow the principal in all their duties that day. These may include staff meetings; classroom observation and evaluation; bus duty; interactions with students, teachers and parents; administrative tasks and lunch-room duty. At 2:30 p.m., all of the business leaders and principals will be hosted by Microsoft Licensing at its office for refreshments followed by a debriefing session facilitated by Mr. Guy Farmer of Unconventional Training. Feedback will be gathered and evaluated for future participants and events.
 
This is the fourth time this event has been organized by the Education Alliance. Previous participants have found this event to be an eye-opening investment of their time. Plans are to continue providing this opportunity to the business community with a future event in 2012.
