WCSD Strategic Plan
WCSD is in the process of developing a new strategic plan. WCSD's current strategic plan, the Blueprint for Student Success, requires updating to address the new challenges the district faces. When completed, the new plan will clearly redefine where the school district is, where it wants to be and how to get there. It will have specific goals and strategies that include metrics to measure progress and provide accountability. Under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent Pedro Martinez, eleven committees have brainstorming action steps necessary to carry out a reform agenda called for by the Board of Trustees. The process is open and involves citizen input.
The teaching profession is changing at a rapid rate. More importantly, our children and the future we are responsible preparing them for is similarly changing. Never before have we had such diverse children with such varied needs that must be met if each is to graduate from high school career and college-ready. With a new Superintendent and a reform-minded Board of Trustees, the time has come to create a new strategic plan.
WCSD is highly focused on effective allocation of resources. A new strategic plan, centered on reforms, will provide the guidance the Board of Trustees needs when allocating financial and human resource. We intend to keep working to improve our graduation rate, end the achievement gaps, better align our curriculum and create a performance management system second-to-none.
