Elmcrest Elementary was built in 1957 and named for the
first sub-division to be built in this section of Northwest Reno.
The school site was donated by George A. Probasco, a local
property owner at the time and for whom Probasco Way is named.

The courtyard was added many years later and with the help
of our PFA planting trees and flowers it has
become a favorite spot to get some shade and talk.

Over the years Elmcrest has gone through many changes;
new playground equipment and murals; adding a computer lab;
and most recently a complete revitalization and remodel in 2010 which
 moved and expanded the office, added smartboards and new interiors
 to every classroom, and added an elevator for students with difficulties using
 the stairs.  All this has been done to not only accommodate our increase in
 enrollment, but to enhance the overall learning environment of our students.

Our school mascot is a Dragon, and all throughout the school you'll see
dragon pictures, stuffed dragons, even dragon T-shirts in our school
 colors of purple and gold.  We want our students to be proud of
their school and to take pride in their growth and academic achievements.
