Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Program

     This grant, administered through the Nevada Department of Education, is used to purchase, prepare, and distribute fresh fruits and vegetables to students at fourteen eligible Title I schools. Funding is allocated to schools based on enrollment at $50-$75 per student.  Twenty-one elementary schools will work with the Washoe County School District’s (WCSD) Nutrition Services and the University of Nevada-Cooperative Extension to implement this grant. Nutrition Services will provide fruits and vegetables and some nutrition education. Cooperative Extension will provide nutrition classes.
