Forward from the book

"As the rising sun illuminated the Truckee Meadows on September 4, 1968, a new generation of diverse students walked onto Procter R. Hug High School's campus. This first generation raised after the Korean War brought new ideals and beliefs to the school on the hill. They were young dreamers who believed anything was possible. They did not see race, they saw a new school with new hopes and new dreams. They saw an opportunity to create a school unlike any other in America. That first generation of students brought a youthful spirit and belief system born in the sixties. They created a community based on tolerance. They built a school where all people can achieve success if they give 110%. They created an attitude that would last for 40 years."
