I began my teaching career 27 years ago in Utah as a special education, physical education, and biological sciences teacher. I moved to Nevada in 1997 and I accepted the job as a physical education teacher and the head varsity football coach for Reed High School. Throughout my career in the Washoe County School District, I have had the pleasure to work at many of our high schools. I’ve worked at Spanish Springs High School as the lead assistant principal and, prior to that, the athletic director and academic coordinator for physical education, health, and reserve officers training corps. In 2002, I became the Assistant Principal at Hug High School where I oversaw athletics, curriculum, discipline, and testing. From 2007 until 2010, I served as Principal of Sparks High School and now I’m honored to be the new Area Superintendent of Zone 1. Working with the WCSD and Reno-Sparks community to insure that all children graduate high school and are prepared for college and/or highly-skilled career ready is my goal. |

I began my teaching career in the Clark County School District and moved to Northern Nevada with my family in 1991. I served for three years as the Elementary Education Consultant to the Nevada Department of Education in Carson City before coming to the Washoe County School District in 1995. I spent nine years at Agnes Risley Elementary where I served as a primary grades teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, Dean, and then Principal from 2000-2004. In 2004, I accepted the position of K-6 Director for Curriculum and Instruction for WCSD and the Northwest Regional Professional Development Program and then in 2008 was selected as Senior Director for Area 4 schools. As an Area Superintendent I am privileged to serve the school communities in Zone 2 as we collaborate to achieve the vision described in our district’s strategic plan: “Every child, by name and face, to graduation.” |

Phone: 348-0279 Performance Zone Directory I have had the honor of working for the Washoe County School District for the past 18 years as both a high school teacher and school site administrator. I began my teaching career at McQueen High School before accepting a position teaching Social Studies at Opportunity High School. After five years at Opportunity School, I accepted an administrative position at the newly-opened North Valleys High School where I spent 6 years as a dean and assistant principal with responsibilities for curriculum, student assessment, student attendance and management. I proudly served as the principal of Earl Wooster High School for four years before becoming the Area Superintendent for Zone 3. I am proud of my service to the families of the Washoe County School District. I passionately believe in our community’s vision of graduating all students on time and ready for college and career opportunities. I look forward to working collaboratively with the students, parents, teachers, and support staff of Zone 3! |

Phone: 348-0361 Performance Zone Directory After spending 20 years as an educator in Tennessee, I moved to Nevada and started my career in WCSD as a special education teacher and a science teacher at Reed High School. I became an Assistant Principal at Reed High School for 3 years before becoming the Curriculum Assistant Principal at Sparks High School. I then had the pleasure of serving as the Principal of Sparks High School from 2003 - 2007. In 2007, I accepted the role of Senior Director for High Schools, and then in 2009 I became the Senior Director for K-12 in Area 2. Without doubt, educating children is my passion. I am proud and honored to be working with the schools and community in Zone 4 to implement the vision and direction of Envision WCSD 2015. |
