I began my career in the Washoe County School District 17 years ago. I began as a teacher at Katherine Dunn Elementary School then pursued a path in school administration in which I served as Dean of Students at Anderson Elementary School, Assistant Principal and Principal at Glenn Duncan Elementary School, Principal at Diedrichsen Elementary School and most recently, Principal at Echo Loder World Culture Academy. In addition, I worked as the Title I Coordinator two years, in which I supervised 27 Title I school grants and programs. In my role as an educational leader, I introduced and implemented multiple initiatives related to curriculum development, professional learning, and systemic change. I received my doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Development from Arizona State University with a focus on leading diverse school communities.Prior to accepting the role of Area Superintendent for Zone 4, I worked as the director of the Equity Alliance at Arizona State University. In this role, I consulted with school districts in Arizona, California, and Nevada in areas related to educational equity and civil rights. It was in this role that I began my work collaborating with the Washoe County School District to support the district&amp;rsquo;s focus on culturally responsive teaching, learning, and leadership. In addition to my work in K-12 education, I&amp;rsquo;ve also taught graduate and undergraduate courses in bilingual and multicultural special education at Arizona State University, and I currently serve on the advisory board for the federally supported Regional Resource Center Program. I&amp;rsquo;ve been married to my husband Joe for 25 years, and we have 3 daughters ages 18, 22, and 23.
