Advanced Placement - The AP Program is a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools to accelerate learning by exposing students to college-level material through involvement in an Advanced Placement course at their high school.
Gifted and Talented - The National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) Standards of Excellence delineates both requisite and exemplary standards for gifted education programming which serve as benchmarks for measuring program effectiveness.
The Davidson Academy - Opened in 2006 and located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, The Davidson Academy is the first public school of its kind for profoundly gifted middle and high school students.
International Baccalaureate - The International Baccalaureate Program is a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for a quality university education. The primary objective of the IB Program is to provide students with a balanced, integrated curriculum in all academic areas.
High School Signature Academy Washoe County School District's Signature Academies are an innovative approach to ensuring college and career readiness for all students. This initiative creates career- and industry-based programs at each comprehensive high school over the next four years. The Signature Academies will focus on specific programs, topics and distinguishing themes to prepare all students for the workforce of tomorrow.
Educational Options include alternatives and enhancements for traditional comprehensive high schools and ways to earn supplemental credits.
Adult Education - Adult education is a program that offers classes for students 17 years of age or older. Completion of classes may lead to a G.E.D. or Adult High School Diploma.
Career and Technical Education - CTE is funded by the Carl Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Education Basic Grant. All classes and programs are open to students regardless of sex, race, color, national origin or handicap. Every effort will be made to assist students with special needs so they may succeed in CTE courses.
Culinary Arts Program - Washoe County School District's Culinary Arts Program is pleased to announce the new menu for the student-run restaurant, Chez la Lapinette, for breakfast and lunch. High school students in this advanced program plan the menu, prepare the food and provide the service under the direction of Chef Lee Wilhelm.
Opportunity School - The mission of WCSD Opportunity Behavior School is to provide each student with an effective behavioral intervention within a safe, healthy, and structured learning environment. This environment will include the provision of a challenging academic program directly linked to the modeling of positive social skills by all who work here.
Supplemental Credit - To provide support for all students in achieving academic success by offering optional means of acquiring a superior education.
