            <description>Special Education mentors work with &amp;quot;job alike&amp;quot; novice teachers, usually from another school site.&amp;nbsp; They have taught special education for at least three years in the Washoe County School District, and possess effective classroom management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.&amp;nbsp; Special Education mentors meet at least every week for &amp;frac12; hour with their novice teacher regarding lesson plans, classroom management, instruction, IEPs, etc. and provide ongoing support.&amp;nbsp; They complete the Special Education Collaborative Logs at every meeting and submit them to the Special Education Mentor Program office at the Brown Center.&amp;nbsp; These logs document their contact and time spent with the novice teacher.&amp;nbsp;Special Education Mentors have completed the Foundations of Mentoring training, and commit to attend further training such as Mentor Development Seminar, Cognitive Coaching, or Observation and Feedback Strategies.&amp;nbsp; (Note:&amp;nbsp; Special Education Mentors may have a choice of stipend or inservice credit.)&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Forms to Read and/or ReturnWelcome to MentoringConfidentiality StatementMentor Teacher ApplicationNeeds Assessment For Special Education MentorsMentor Incentive FormInformation for MentorsWhy Induction and Mentoring?Mission Statement - Purpose - GoalsPhases of First Year TeachingMentoring Relationship Self-AssessmentWeb Registration DirectionsWorking with Your MenteeMentor-Mentee TimelineClassroom Visit Learning GuideProfessional Leave Day ProceduresProfessional Leave FormWeekly Interactive Discussion PromptsMaking the Most of Mentoring Relationships50 Ways to Love Your MenteeMy Thoughts for Next Year&amp;nbsp;</description>
