VAUGHN: A FOUR STAR MIDDLE SCHOOL!!!

          DATA WALL

The Data Wall at Vaughn has been upgraded thanks to the collaboration and support of many wonderful people. While visiting our school one day Superindent Pedro Martinez noticed that there were several man hours being dedicated to just keeping the data on the wall current. One thing led to another and the result was a Data Wall fully electronical that cuts the man hours considerably allowing the data team to vest those hours back into the engagement with students and their parents. The Data Wall continues to produce valuable information that helps us teach our students in a categorical, differentiated form. In truth our students and the community are now getting the best bang for their buck. We continue to meet with the parents of our students in whole group, small groups, and individually. We take the time necessary to explain to parents their child's progress in school, however, we do not simply deliver news, the data allows us to offer interventions that deliver results. The families that attend our Data Nights leave the school impressed and at the same time comfortable knowing that we are doing everything we can to help their child succeed. Parents continue to take advantage of the free academic interventions that Vaughn offers and quickly sign up their students. The next Data Night is scheduled for a day in May but the specifics are still being worked out. If you and your child would like to attend or if you have any questions regarding dates, times, or any other particulars regarding this event, please feel free to contact the school.

Breakfast of Champions

We held our annual Vaughn  Breakfast of Champions on Friday, May 10, 2013, where we honored approximately 45 Vaughn students.  The students have shown amazing growth in overcoming major obstacles. Families and staff who helped celebrate our students’ successes were provided with muffins and fruit from our Partner in Education, The Grand Sierra Resort.  Superintendent Pedro Martinez was the inspirational speaker for the Breakfast, and he spoke of overcoming obstacles in his own life and discussed the importance of strong role models and mentors in guiding him to success.   Thank you to all of our families who were able to attend to celebrate with us at this special event.
