Principal News...Thank you to everyone who joined us at Abel's on the 26th for dinner. Abel's has donated $515.00 back to our school! This year is flying by! Teachers have been working hard at differentiating instruction for our varied student abilities and students are working hard and being successful :). Thank you to parents for your continued support as we implement the Common Core State Standards and Conscious Discipline. It takes a Village!

Verdi Science Fair...Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 5th from 6-7 pm. The science projects and inventions students and classes have been working on will be on display in the multipurpose room at Verdi Elementary. Come check out the process of kids doing science along with original inventions from our creative students!

No Early Release...Wednesday, March 6th will NOT be an early release day due to highschool testing. Students will remain at school till regular release time of 3:15.

6th Graders ...have performed a total of 77.75 volunteer hours for the month of January. Also, this month the 6th graders are collecting canned meats such as tuna and chicken for the homeless. Please check your cupboards and donate a few cans for the month.

Donations needed ...We are looking for a small microwave and/or toaster oven. If you have one of these items that you no longer need, please consider donating to Verdi. Also, we have a group of volunteers making fabric seat back holders for some of our classrooms. Each holder takes approximately 1 yard of fabric. If you have any pieces of fabric (at least 1 yard per piece) that you could donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

Next PFA Meeting ...will be Tuesday, March 12th at 3:30. Stay informed on what is happening at Verdi by attending this meeting. Free Babysitting is provided.

4th and 5th Graders ...will be hosting a short music program here at the school on Tuesday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. Hope you can join us.

Evening of the Arts...Mark your calendar for our annual Evening of the Arts on Tuesday, March 26th at 6:00 p.m. This is an evening to celebrate your child's art, music, writing and dance.

Spring Pictures ...Friday, March 29th your child will be taking their spring picture. Please watch for a flyer to come home regarding ordering these pictures.

Report Cards...will be coming home with your student on Friday, March 29th!

Fun Run...The 22nd annual Fun Run will be held on May 17th. We invite all students to participate in the Fun Run t-shirt design contest. All artwork submitted must be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, use no more than 3 colors (including black), print students name on the back. Please submit artwork to the office by March 8th. The PFA will choose the top designs at our next meeting on March 12th @3:30, then the students will vote on which design will be used for our 2013 t-shirt. Parents and friends....if you'd like to become a corporate sponsor, or have questions, please contact Cara Pitchford at carapitchford@yahoo.com.

Lunch Room News...If you receive a low balance lunch letter in your child's backpack, please be expedient in providing the office with the amount needed to keep your child up to date. Remember, a great way to pay for lunches is on the Washoe County School District website.
