Note from the Principal... Once again, our annual Pumpkin Patch was a huge success. We raised $20,000. This year's proceeds will go to purchasing the final round of activeboards and accessories for our last 5 teachers and some additional school beautification projects. A big thank you goes out to all parents who volunteered their time and help. On another note, please be sure to pay close attention to the school calendar you received at the beginning of the school year. We have many early release days this month and no school days coming up... Aloha- Trish Gerbo

Upcoming Holidays... Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. If your family could use a little help this holiday season, please contact the office or our counselor, Stephanie Jenson, 345-8100. We have some wonderful programs that can provide help.

Conference Week... November 2nd thru November 6th is parent/teacher conference week. Children will be released early all week at 1:05. Kindergarten will be out at 10:55.

Picture Make up day... is Friday, November 6th. If your child missed pictures, have them pick up an order form from the office.

Verdi Historical Society... will be presenting the winning Verdi students an award for their essays on "Verdi". The awards will be on November 7th at 10:00 a.m. in the Verdi Library.

PFA Meeting... Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 10th at 3:25. Babysitting will be provided. If you are unable to attend the PFA meetings you can read the minutes from the meetings which have been posted on the Verdi E.S. website at www.washoecountyschools.org/verdi/pfa.html.

Blood Drive... The Bloodmobile will be here in the Verdi parking lot on Tuesday, November 10th between 2 and 6 p.m. If you would like to donate, give the office a call at 345-8100.

Veteran's Day... Is November 11th and there is NO SCHOOL!

Thanksgiving Musical Celebration... a music program is scheduled for Tuesday, November 24th for Kindergarten thru 5th grade. This year's program will be held at McQueen H.S. in the Little Theater. The show will start at 7:00 p.m. Students need to be at the McQueen theater by 6:00 p.m.

Bring Someone Special to School... parents, grandparents etc. are welcome to join us Wednesday, November 25th to spend an hour or two with your child in class. Coffee, juice fruit and breakfast rolls will be served beginning at 8:00. Hope you can come!

Cookie Dough... 6th grade still has some extra cookie dough for sale. The cost of each tub is $15.00. Please call the office. Lot's of flavors!

Lunchroom Tidbits... The next pizza day is Friday, November 20th. School lunches are $2.50 a day or $12.50 a week. Or pay online at: www.washoe.k12.nv.us/schools/school-meals-program.

Thanksgiving Holiday... No school on Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th.

PFA News... Our goal is for 100% participation/involvement. We are encouraging every family to join the P.F.A. for a $10.00 donation. P.F.A. membership forms are available in the office or online at www.washoecountyschools.org/verdi/pfa.html.

ZBEST DINING & ENTERTAINMENT DISCOUNT BOOKS... Thank you to everyone who bought a ZBest Dining & Entertainment Discount Book. We sold 60 ZBest Dining & Entertainment Discount Books raising $600 for our school, thanks for making this fundraiser a success!

FUNDRAISING... There are several fundraising events throughout the school year so you can participate in the fundraisers that you enjoy and that fit into your busy schedule. The following is a list of upcoming and current events:

• Upcoming: Qdoba Mexican Grill Night on November 18th from 4pm to 8pm. Qdoba will donate 20% of the Verdi E.S. purchases that night when a Verdi flyer is presented when paying.
• Current: Verdi Spirit Wear, Howard Chevron Smog Service, Box Tops for Education, and Model Dairy Cash for Cartons.
