HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9TH FROM 10 TO 4 P.M. AT OUR ANNUAL PUMPKIN PATCH FESTIVAL. THIS IS ONE EVENT YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS. BE SURE TO BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR A FUN FILLED DAY!

We are pleased to announce that Grocery Outlet in Sparks has signed on to be Verdi Elementary School's new Partner in Education. Thank you Grocery Outlet!

PJ and Company Fundraiser Night... Thank you to everyone who participated in the fundraiser night. It was great to see so many Verdi families and friends come to this event. We raised $300 for our school. Thanks for making this fundraiser a success.

3rd and 5th graders...will be going on a fieldtrip Monday, October 3rd to attend the Young People's Concert at the Pioneer Theater. Students need to bring a cold lunch on this day.

Blood Drive...The bloodmobile will be here Tuesday, October 11th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. If you would like to donate blood, please call Julie at 345-8100 to set up a time.

Don't Forget...due to high school testing, the dismissal time on Wednesday, October 12th and Wednesday October 19th will be a regular dismissal time at 3:15 not 2:30...again ...NOT 2:30!

Run for Education...Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 16th for the annual WCSD run. The more students that show up to run the more proceeds will go to our school. Watch for additional information to come home soon.

Bus Safety Week...Take the time to thank your bus driver for getting your children to school safely during the week of October 17th thru the 21st. A thank you goes a long way!

Music Program...for the Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be Tuesday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the Multi Purpose Room.

Nevada Day...is Friday, October 28th. There will be no school this day.

Myschoolrecycles.com...is the website you may visit to learn more about the items we will collect at the school and turn into Office Depot. Simply bring in your used ink/toner/small electronics/cell phones to the office for recycling.

Study Island...Your student should be successfully logging into the study island website and completing several hours a week of content for their grade level. Please have your student check with their teacher for specific content they should be working on.

It's getting buggy out there...Please take a few minutes and talk to your children about not picking up or handling bees, bugs, rodents etc.. These critters are active, carry disease and we don't want anyone to get hurt.

LOOK AT WHAT WE DID!...The Dolan Automotive Group is offering Northern Nevada Public schools the chance to win a $2,500 scholarship to fund a classroom project . The proposal below was submitted by Mrs. Johnson (4th grade).

Mini ropes course
Students need to learn how to work in a community of learners to solve problems they face. They need to learn leadership skills and accept each individual's strengths and weaknesses. I would like to have a self-challenge and team mini ropes course built in our open area that students can use to build cooperative work ethic and problem solving skills. This would consist of stations built with construction materials that would also address physical activity, balance, and teamwork. It can be used by all grade levels.

Now all we need you to do is simply follow the directions below and vote for our project:

PUMPKIN PATCH ...

• Volunteers - if you haven't already signed up to volunteer to help at the Pumpkin Patch, please do so. The success of our biggest fundraiser of the year is due to our volunteers. Please see your child's teacher for times when volunteers are needed.
• Bake Sale - for those who are preparing items for the Pumpkin Patch Bake Sale, don't forget to please label the items that have nuts.

PARENT FACULTY ASSOCIATION (PFA)... The membership drive is ongoing. Presently we have 34 family memberships. The goal is for 100% participation/involvement. We are encouraging every family to join the PFA for a $10.00 donation. PFA membership forms are available in the office. The next PFA meeting will be Tuesday, October 11 th at 3:30. Babysitting will be provided.

FUNDRAISING... There will be fundraising events throughout the school year. We are offering numerous fundraisers this year so you can participate in the fundraisers that you enjoy and that fit into your busy schedule. The following is a list of current and upcoming fundraisers:
