I grew up mostly in Gardnerville, graduated from Yerington High School, and spent the next twenty years heeding my father's advice not to become a teacher (he was a high school English teacher and basketball coach).  I have an undergraduate degree in Business and a master's degree in English from the University of Nevada.  In 2003, I finally earned my secondary teaching certification and joined the family business.  In my free time, I read (a lot), write (not enough), fly fish, and play basketball (it ain't pretty, but it's still effective).

I have been at Wooster for six years and have been the English Department Leader for three.  Up to now, As Department Leader, it's my job to advocate for English teachers and to help create a language program where students can learn the literacy and critical thinking skills they need to operate productively and reflectively in an ever-changing world.

Lisa Johnson graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1998. She attended the University of Minnesota to obtain her teaching license and took Masters level courses. She taught high school English in North St. Paul, Minnesota, for five years before moving to Reno, Nevada, where she teaches English at Wooster High School. Ms. Johnson currently teaches Junior English and Freshmen Pre-IB English and enjoys her students immensely. Her favorite thing to do is soak in all the beauty and power of nature and loves to camp, hike, bike, and sit in the fresh air. She loves reading and believes in many good things.
