Rand Henjum lived in Wisconsin and Montana before attending grade school and high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He received his bachelor’s degree from Augsburg College in Minneapolis Minnesota with majors in Natural Science, Physical Education, and Secondary Education. He received his Masters Degree from Montana State University with a major in School Administration and supporting areas in Math Instruction and Curriculum Development. Rand also has his National Board Certification.
Rand’s first teaching position in Nevada was at Gerlach High School. During the nine years he spent there he taught all of the science and math classes. He also coached volleyball, girl’s basketball, and boy’s and girl’s track. While in Gerlach Rand and his wife Kay built their own home. They did all of the construction and drew the blue prints. The most important lesson to come out of this project was that if you can learn how to learn you can learn how to do anything.
This is Rand’s 18th year at Wooster. He has taught a number of science and math classes. For 5 years he was the Varsity Girls' Volleyball head coach. He continues to be the head Girls' Golf coach.
Rand’s interests include gardening, cooking, water and snow skiing, golfing, and reading. Rand’s
wife Kay is also a teacher. Currently she teaches reading at Veterans Elementary. Rand and Kay have 4 children - Eric, Karen, Julie, and Dana.
Karen and Julie both completed the IB Diploma Program at Wooster. Dana is a student at Wooster and is in the pre IB program, plays football, basketball, and runs track.

After earning my Master's degree, I worked in biotechnolgy and pharmaceuticals for several years. I then managed research and development activities for a small medical device company, which was a job that moved me from Utah to Florida. After my first daughter was born, I decided to switch gears and teach Science. My love for Science stems back to playing with bugs as a kid, and teaching enables me to share that joy with students. Teaching also afforded me the opportunity to move back home to Reno to be closer to my family and the mountains.
When I'm away from work, I enjoy spending my time with my wife Crystal and children Ibaia and Maite - and yes,
they are busy little bees. I also enjoy music, skiing, mountain biking and camping, but most of all - SOCCER. I started
playing at eight, and continued playing competitively from the age of 10 through college. I even trained with a small semi-pro team.
Being old and injured, I don't play much anymore, but I hope to share my passion for the game by helping develop the soccer program here at WHS. ¡Olé!
